Montmorency Sour Cherries

Our sour cherries are Montmorency variety. They are different (less sour) than the varieties of sour cherries, which are grown in Persia.

F.A.Q.

Q. Are you open in the rain?

           A. Yes. The farm is open rain or shine, however people must leave the field during thunderstorms.

Q. What methods of payment do you accept?

           A. We accept cash, debit, and e-transfer.

Q. When are sweet and sour cherries ready?

           A. July is cherry season, but the dates change every year depending on the weather. Please visit our pick-your-own cherries web page frequently for updates or subscribe to our newsletter to be notified when each crop begins.

Q. Can I bring my dog?

           A. Dogs are not allowed in the orchard for health and safety reasons. Service dogs excepted. Dogs on a leash with their human are allowed in the parking areas. We do allow non-aggressive dogs, on a leash with their human, to walk the perimeter of the orchard, where their human(s) can pick fruit.  Humans, please pick up after your pet, especially since children run and play on the farm.

Q. Can I bring my children?

         A. Yes!  We have been surprised how many times we have been asked this question. Please bring your children! Bring their friends too!  We love having children on the farm and want them to experience first hand how food grows.  Please watch your children closely. This is a working farm with many potential hazards for children.

Q. Do you allow picnics at the farm?

           A. No. We encourage you to picnic at Charles Daley Park, on Lake Ontario. It’s less than a five (5) minute drive from the farm, and has a beautiful view of the lake.

Q. Do you have washrooms on the farm?

           A. Yes, we have port-a-potties on the farm. If you want nicer washrooms, then we recommend making a stop at Tim Hortons on Victoria Avenue in Vineland before visiting the farm.

Q. What is the best way to store cherries so they last longer?

           A. The best way to store cherries is unwashed in the refrigerator. Wash cherries right before you eat or process them, but not before you store them, as washing affects the natural cuticle of the cherry skin and will cause them to spoil faster.

Q. Do you book bus tours?

           A. Bus tours can be arranged by appointment only. Please email the farm to inquire. Large groups arriving in separate cars do not need to book ahead of time.

Q. Do we need to book ahead or make reservations?

           A. There is no need for reservations or booking. Simply check the pick-your-own page to see if the farm is open.
